What is backflow prevention assembly testing, and why do I have to do it?

Backflow prevention assemblies help to keep our water safe by preventing contaminants from
entering the public water supply. The most common sources of contamination from residential
properties are irrigation systems and automatic pool fillers, though some properties also have
private water wells that have to be isolated.

Pet waste, fertilizers, weed killers, pesticides, pool chemicals and other contaminants from
your lawn and pool can get sucked back into the water supply system if your irrigation system
and/or pool filler aren’t protected by a backflow prevention assembly. These valve assemblies
have seals and valves that only allow water to flow in one direction, and are required by the
Texas Department of Environmental Quality to be installed when certain systems or appliances
present a hazard to the public water system. Because seals and valves can become damaged
or corroded over time, these assemblies are required to be tested on a regular basis to make
sure they are working properly to protect the public health. C&K Plumbing employs licensed
testers and is registered with local water suppliers to provide testing in our area. We are also
licensed to repair or replace backflow assemblies that are not working properly.

Round Rock, Taylor, Hutto, N. Austin, Pflugerville, Manor, Leander and Liberty Hill at only $75
per assembly, plus local test submission fees charged by your water supplier. Test fees
exclude repairs.
